Why "Hot Rod" deserves an Oscar

Journal Entry: Sun Nov 29, 2009, 2:58 PM

Have you seen the movie "Hot Rod?" It is almost plotless and does absolutely nothing to apologize for its silliness and stupidity. In fact, it practically takes a long, luxurious bath in it. That being said, it made me giggle more than once. This is why:

10 Reasons "Hot Rod" Deserves an Oscar

1.) Two words: Will Arnett

2.) Two more words: Danny McBride (the best person in the world)

3.) The best angry dance since Bret's.

4.) Racist,hypothetical food brawls.

5.) People dancing (poorly) to "Two of Hearts." Tears, people. Tears of joy.

6.) Great lines like "Have fun being married to Satan!"

7.) A stirring, WTF? 80's soundtrack.

8.) Spontaneous looting.

9.) OMG, it's the "Dick in a Box" guys!!

10.) Great phrases we can all someday use should we ever need to raise a lot of money quickly for a retarded endeavor. Like "Operation Fiscal Jackhammer."

And that, my friends, is why "Hot Rod" deserves an Oscar and you should watch it some night when you're really drunk and have nothing better to do.

Shiny Happy People

A friend of mine here on dA recently asked me for some tips, especially on making my "shiny" people. I answered her questions...and figured since I'd divulged the info to her, I may as well make the info available to everyone. Here are my excerpts of the convo.

"Be happy to share some tips with you. The secret to making my hair and skin, etc. shiny is simply this: white paint. I just set the color to white and paint on the highlights. On hair, I smudge them with a rough bristle brush sometimes to give a jagged, "super-shiny" appearance. I experiment with the opacity and blur of the highlights as well. The more opaque the white, the more shine you are implying. Remember to put highlights on spots that typically "higher" than other spots. Like the top of the head, the tip of the nose, chin, cheekbones, knees, boobs, shoulders...or anywhere you think light might hit first. It's hard to describe rather than show...but it's basically just globbing on some white paint in the right places, then blurring, smudging, etc. to get the desired effect.

Also, I used the blend mode of "overlay" for my highlights. That particular blend mode seems to create a metallic shine almost automatically. As for tutorials, you could try this journal of mine: [link]"

If you use any of these tips, I'd love if you put your own twist on them. By all means, use my tips...but use them to make something wholly your own.

Hi all! I recently sold another print, a copy of my work "The Forgotten."

Since I've been here at dA, I've only sold a handful of a prints (to anyone other than myself :XD:). But still it makes me happy because when I consider what a glut there is of superb talent on this site, I realize I'm lucky to sell anything at all!

And now, da features!

"Sea & Air" gets a DD!

:heart::heart::heart::heart:

Thank you to whomever recommended it and to ^Sander-Seto for featuring it. You made my day.
